Faux or Freshwater Pearls?
Freshwater pearls add a lovely natural, organic touch to an outfit and crystal pearls bring the look of utter flawless perfection.
If you opt for freshwater then be careful about a couple of things-- the quality and the color. Freshwater pearls vary wildly in quality-- I have seen near-perfect, very round pearls with excellent surface quality through to bumpy, pitted pearls with poor luster and iridescence.
Also bear in mind that pearls are amazingly hard to photograph so matching the shade of your dress color up to a photographic image is not a reliable method.
Swarovski pearls have a very pleasing lustre and weight, are harder wearing than organic pearls and, crucially, when you order "white" that is exactly what you will receive, plus you can get the exact sizes of beads that you require (to the mm).
